WDWNW (in NO acute distress!)

Have you ever taken a peek at your doctor's summary notes from a visit? They are part of your medical records, but not something doctor's just pass out to you at the end of an appointment. I came across a few from Dr. U and kept reading this acronym that I had no clue what it meant...WDWNW (and my favorite part after that is 'in no acute distress'). I had to ask around to my buds in the medical field and found out it means 'Well Developed Well Nourished Woman...in no acute distress.' Pretty standard description for a healthy woman. Sounds amazing to me (well at first, I thought...hmmm...does that mean I'm on the 'hefty' healthy side?! haha). But WDWNW in no acute distress...that's actually exactly how I feel right now. Yay! I also read a note that I needed 'a lot of reinforcement.' hahaha. So true. That Dr. U hits the nail right on the head. Every time.

So, feeling pretty darn amazing right now. Pretty darn thankful. Jonathon says that my first tattoo should be WDWNW. haha. P.S. I'm definitely NOT getting a tattoo.

Does that girl look WD and WN or what?! haha. Had a fun trip (aka WINE TOUR BABY!) out to Fredericksberg with some of my buds from grad school (I'm so proud of them...they are out there doing some really important things for kids with disabilities in Austin!)...it was so windy, kept blowing my luscious locks into a funky mohawk. Maybe I can see myself with a tattoo?

We had a blast! Can you tell??

Bestie Kristin and I got a sweet hook up for front and center seats to see BoyzIImen. SOOO fun! Yes, we wore ties to celebrate (Austin's ties! haha). Can't believe I met such a great friend as a potluck roommate freshman year. Who would've thought 15 years later, we would be doing a little east coast swang at the rodeo together??

Austin cracks us up on a daily basis. This month, he's started soccer (he told me he liked water breaks with mom the best), gotten into the pool (only dipping toes into deeper water even with a life vest!), shooting pop guns (he doesn't look nervous or anything, right?), and playing in the dirt (I finally convinced him to let loose and take off his shoes)...he has the funniest curious, but cautious personality.
I can watch this video all day. Kind of sums him up. Plus the sound of the waves is one of my all time fav soundtracks.

Hope you all are feeling WDWN (and, of course, in no acute distress) today too!
Win the Day!

Spring Break!!!

Been a busy busy month!

First things first...THANKS to each of you who were able to take the time and make a donation to the BCRC. Every little penny is put to great use and very much appreciated.

Secondly...I am BEAT! We had a very fun week in San Diego over spring break. Jonathon had some business in San Fransisco, then hit up a handicapping contest in Los Angeles and on the third leg of his trip, met up with Austin and me in San Diego for some family time.

We were able to spend the day with my cousins Riley and Nate. Nate is the biggest goofball I know...and also a really really good daddy. We are very proud of him!

When Jonathon made it into town, we hit up the zoo, beach and lots of chilling out. Austin loved the beach...until he tasted the water. Then he said he was ready to go home. Haha.

Phase 3 of the trip...Jonathon brought Austin home for a couple of days, my mom and sisters flew in and we had a GIRLS ONLY trip to wrap up the week. Celebrated Mom's 50th bday, Stinky's 32nd bday and Boog's love for Legos at Legoland :) We had the best time. Kayaking, sitting around on the beach relaxing, eating some amazing food, drinking a lot of wine and laughing so dang hard my stomach seriously hurt. One of my favorite moments was while we were eating at a fancy spot for Mom's bday dinner, Justice entertained us with 'Yo Mama' jokes. She really is one of a kind.

So...everyone got a little bit of time with everyone...it was a perfect trip. So perfect, J is looking into beach houses in La Jolla (which has always been one of our fav vacation spots). I think it's going to require a few more handicapping wins, but I have no doubt that if it's something the guy wants, he will do his darndest to make it happen. Haha.

Speaking of handicapping...a few articles on what old Dad the handicapper has been up to...

The comments are my favorite part.

He headed off to Vegas for another big tourney...send lots of Southern California beach house wishes our way :)

Had our 4th annual visit with the Easter Bunny. I typically plan this visit so that we are the first ones in line on the first day the bunny is at the mall, but I think I was still California dreaming and ended up going on a super busy day when there was a long line. All. of. the. kids. were. screaming. All of them. Austin cracked me up because he was calm as could be. Told the kid behind us, 'Hey man, be cool. It's only a bunny.' HAHA.

So...I'm pretty worn out from the busy days, but so dang thankful that I was up for doing it all. I don't think I would've been able to do this a few months ago, so I just kept reminding myself how far my health has come!

Get out there and WIN THE DAY friends!

YES...I am asking you for money :)

I don't know if some of yall recognize that girl...that's a girl who only one week from when this picture was taken was diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery, and her first round of some pretty intense chemotherapy drugs. That's a girl who was snuggling up with her 2 year old and had no clue what their future held. That's a girl who needed someone who had been there and done that...and guess what?? She found that place!

I know that you are asked to donate to all kinds of causes throughout the year. Most of the time when Jonathon and I donate, we support the causes, but don't really have a clue how much or where our dollars go exactly.

I have a special place in my heart for the Breast Cancer Research Center here in town. I never got around to telling you about my experiences with the organization when I was diagnosed because there was so much going on, but when I was diagnosed and contacted them, I was called back IMMEDIATELY and the next morning, a patient navigator came right to me and Jonathon and sat down with us to help us understand surgery, what to expect and what I could do to help prepare myself and my family. It was amazing. And she does this for hundreds of women throughout the year.

The center has also helped me find resources I was in need of and coordinated events that I have attended. The patient navigator is a 'Win the Day' reader and gets in touch with me when there are things that she thinks she can help with and regularly touches base with me. The list of resources that they provide in our community is extensive. And meaningful. There are lots of ways that people can give to breast cancer causes. This one is different from others because they are right on the battlefield with those of us who are fighting the fight. It's a way to give in a way that makes a difference to individual women/men and their families right here and right now. Pretty phenomenal.

Today, March 5th through tomorrow March 6th at 6 pm, is a PERFECT time to make a donation to the BCRC through Amplify Austin...St. David's has sponsored the Center and is sharing $1 million with them and several others prorated by their donation amounts from people like YOU. So it's a fantastic time to get more bang for your buck :)

Services are provided at no cost. A $25 donation from someone is all it took for my first encounter with the BCRC. If you can give, I promise you, it will be an unbelievable gift to someone just like me.

Go HERE and follow the 'Donate Now' link to give.

Thanks BCRC for helping the Kinchens to WIN THE DANG DAY!
